CBC-Canada Graduates 83 Students

STRATHMORE, AB (May 21, 2003) - A total of 83 students participated in recent commencement exercises at Covenant Bible College-Canada (CBC) as part of a weekend celebration.

Alise Barrymore, dean of University Ministries at North Park University in Chicago, spoke at the Saturday evening commencement. During the service, Christopher Maas of Maple Grove, Minnesota, was awarded the Carl Sorenson Award by the town of Strathmore for his volunteer work at CBC and the community of Strathmore. The school's Faculty Award, given for academic excellence, was presented Clinton Chicoine of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan - his brother Curtis had earned the award the previous year. The Student Body Award, which is voted upon by CBC-Canada students, was given to Troy Klassen of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The school began the weekend of festivities with a Friday evening banquet as musician Jon Buller performed for 450 students and their families. A Saturday morning student presentation included music, drama and other worship elements. Due to a rare blizzard in Strathmore, the event was completed by candlelight with no sound system.

On Sunday morning, CBC President Neil Josephson spoke at the school's baccalaureate service. A Sunday evening ministry arts concert closed out the weekend, said Kathy Brawley, CBC-Canada's campus director.

CBC was founded in 1941 and was originally based in Norquay, Saskatchewan. The campus was located in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan for most of its history before the school built a campus in Strathmore in 1995. The other two CBC campuses, in Colorado and Ecuador, were opened in 1998 and 2000 respectively.
