CBC-Midwest Graduates 45 Students

WINDSOR, CO (May 16, 2003) - A total of 45 students graduated from one-year programs at Covenant Bible College-Midwest last Saturday night as CBC President Neil Josephson preached during the school's fifth commencement exercises.

In addition, three interns completed studies at The Worship Center, which trains students to lead worship activities in the church. The school also hosted a groundbreaking service for a new chapel on Sunday following morning worship with Josephson, CBC-Midwest board chair Scott Harper, building development chair Mike Lage and CBC Foundation director Marlene Carlson among the 100 in attendance. The new 4,500-square-foot chapel will include worship, classroom and office space. The facility can also be used for weddings and other worship arts events, as well as for conferences. An anonymous donor provided funding for the chapel, the first of three main building projects scheduled for the school in the coming years.

On Friday, the school hosted an evening banquet with Art Greco, director of evangelism and prayer for the Department of Church Growth and Evangelism of the Evangelical Covenant Church as the keynote speaker. CBC-Midwest's summer music group "Inquire Within" presented special music for the evening. The group is currently on tour throughout Covenant churches in the Pacific Northwest.

Along with changes to the physical structure are significant changes in leadership at CBC-Midwest. Paul Lessard, CBC-Midwest's executive director, resigned his position earlier this spring to pursue pastoral ministry at Hope Community Covenant Church in Strathmore, Alberta. Lessard's replacement is Jeff Mazzariello, who has been a pastor at various churches in California. He begins his duties in June.

"He'll be a great fit for the Midwest campus, but also a great fit for CBC as a whole," Lessard said of Mazzariello. "He brings good perspective and a real passion for the church."

CBC-Midwest, founded in September 1998, is located in Windsor and can accommodate 45 students. This year's class included students representing eight different church denominations and 13 states. For more information about CBC-Midwest, call 970-686-6977.
