Golf for Kids Event Set for June 2

CHICAGO, IL (May 9, 2003) - North Park University (NPU) and Chicago Bears head coach Dick Jauron are combining forces at a June 2 Golf for Kids event that will raise funds for underprivileged children.

The golf tournament will be held at Midlane Country Club in Wadsworth. Golf registration and lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. with the first tee time at 1 p.m. A silent auction and buffet dinner begins at 4:30 p.m. Guest speakers at the dinner are Jeff Joniak, Hub Arkush and Tom Thayer, play-by-play radio voices of the Bears. Thayer played for the Bears when the team won its lone Super Bowl in the mid 1980s.

Much of the proceeds from the June 2 event will support After Hours, a youth program sponsored by North Park's Outreach Ministries and staffed by student volunteers. Included in After Hours is a drop-in youth center, tutoring and mentoring programs and sports activities.

Tickets for 18 holes of golf and dinner are $200 per person. Dinner tickets are $50. For more information on the golf event, call Sue Gost at 773-244-6262.
