Mexico Churches to Focus on Planting More Churches

OAXACA, MEXICO (April 3, 2003) - Covenant churches of the Central and South districts of Mexico (known as the IEMP) recently met for their annual conference in Oaxaca as churches and pastors pledged to make church planting a focal point in future ministries.

The conference included seminars led by three speakers: Walter Contreras, Pacific Southwest Conference church planting consultant; Alberto Ruiz, president of CIPE (Confraternidad of Hispanic Covenant Churches) and pastor of the Cap Street Church in San Francisco, California; and North Park Theological Seminary Prof. Jerry Reed.

The IEMP (Iglesia Evangelica Misionera del Pacto) is part of the division of three districts in the Mexican Covenant Church. Alfonso Perez Parras is IEMP president and Francisco Sotelo serves as vice president. Tom and Janice Kelly are Mexico region coordinators for the Department of World Mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
