Lyndhurst (OH) Church to Celebrate 50 Years

LYNDHURST, OH (April 3, 2003) - Bethany Covenant Church will begin its celebration of 50 years of ministry on May 18 as Dr. Larry Sherman, assistant superintendent of the Great Lakes Conference, will be among the honored guests.

Previous pastors and spouses have been invited to the event, said Gail Means, chair of the celebration committee. Many of the 17 charter members (May 19, 1953) are expected to attend the day's festivities. A video history of Bethany Covenant's pilgrimage is being produced and adult and children's choirs will participate during worship service. A luncheon will follow.

Bethany Covenant will participate in community and church events as it continues to celebrate its golden anniversary. The congregation plans on participating in various community events and the church will later host a picnic to celebrate its preschool's 35th anniversary.

Located in a suburb of Cleveland, Bethany Covenant averages 150 in worship attendance under pastor Stacey Littlefield. A servant evangelism program has begun under the leadership of Rick Kolar and the church youth and children's programs have been growing in recent years, said Means.
