Life Church (MI) Attracts 275 to Opening Celebration

CANTON, MI (April 1, 2003) - Life Church celebrated its grand opening Sunday as 275 attended worship services and a picnic at Field Elementary School, according to pastor Alex Rahill.

Life Church began weekly services during the month of January in a suburb of Detroit. Sunday's service doubled in attendance compared to the congregation's first weekly service.

"It was an unbelievable day," said Rahill. "We had one person accept Christ and five others came to church and recommitted their lives to Christ - people who hadn't been to church in years. I was planning on 200 or 220, but our core group was awesome in this and we've had people making decisions for Christ every week since we've started weekly services."

Alex and Marcie Rahill had previously worked with a youth ministry at Messiah Church, a Covenant congregation in Detroit. The church is hoping to reach the Gen X age group and uses an upbeat worship style to draw younger people from the area. The church is hosting a concert at a local theater as a way to meet the community. It has been producing a group of songs and will host a CD release party in May.
