Taiwan Churches Seek Short-Term Summer Help

TAIWAN (March 16, 2003) - Evangelical Covenant Church pastors in Taiwan are in need of workers to join in a month-long English program this summer.

The pastors are partnering with other Chinese Christian leaders and Overseas Summer Missions in a mission outreach program during July to serve Chinese students, according to David and Judy Dolan of the Department of World Mission.

"It's a wonderful opportunity for college age or older young people to partner with the churches here as they work to share the Gospel in their communities," the Dolans noted. "Recently the Taiwan government decided that public schools would begin teaching English in the first grade rather than the ninth as it had been previously. In fact, one of our pastors told us that in 10 years, English is to be one of the official languages in Taiwan."

Taiwan Covenant pastors are seeking Christian American college age young people willing to teach conversational English for three weeks in area churches. The fourth week, short-termers would be involved in a Christian camp for children.

Complete information and applications for this opportunity can be obtained online through Overseas Summer Missions at www.OSMusa.org (link to Global Missions: Taiwan). "This is a very affordable mission opportunity," the Dolans state. "Taiwan churches are providing room and board. The primary cost to short-termers is airfare. Applications are due March 25. Covenant young people participating will be placed in Covenant Churches.

Interested individuals also may obtain further information by contacting the Dolans at djdolan@attbi.com.
