The Beachfest event begins with a youth night on March 22 and concludes
with a family night on March 23. Christian music artists Jaci Velasquez,
TobyMac, Third Day and Blind Boys of Alabama will be featured as will a
VeggieTales children's area and a professional skateboarding
demonstration.
The week before Beachfest, college and church mission teams from across the
United States will fly in to help build several houses for Habitat for
Humanity and collect food for Operation Compassion. Prayer rallies in and
around Fort Lauderdale and a daily prayer walk around Fort Lauderdale are
also among the pre-event events.
"Luis (Palau) is a terrific communicator and they do ministry in the best
sense of the word," said Alan Hearl, pastor of Trinity Covenant Church in
Manchester, Connecticut, who worked closely with Palau during a Hartford
area festival in 2001.

Palau to Headline March 'Beachfest' Event
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (February 24, 2003) - Luis Palau, one of the plenary speakers
for the 2001 Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church, will speak
at "Beachfest with Luis Palau" March 22-23 at Fort Lauderdale Beach in
southern Florida. Palau heads the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association out
of Portland, Oregon. He is recognized as one of the world's leading
evangelists.
