Kansas Covenanter to Attend Rutgers on Athletic Scholarship

TOPEKA, KS (February 13, 2003) - Abbey Martin of Brookwood Covenant Church in Topeka recently accepted a scholarship offer from Rutgers University in New Jersey after a standout women's volleyball season at Barton County Community College in Great Bend.

Martin, a six-foot setter, was part of a team that finished 33-7 and placed fifth in the National Junior College Athletic Association women's volleyball championships last fall. She was a member of two-time Kansas 5A state champion Shawnee Heights High School in Topeka before graduating in 1991. She also played in the Kansas Volleyball Association all-star match before heading to junior college.
