Women Vikings Overcome North Central College

CHICAGO, IL (February 6, 2003) - Shandrel Young and Megan Slattery tallied 15 points each as the North Park University (NPU) women's basketball team beat visiting North Central College 62-51 Wednesday night.

Young added a game high nine rebounds and four steals as NPU avenged a 61-40 loss at North Central six days earlier. The Vikings had been out-rebounded in that loss 49-25, but on Wednesday they had a 39-29 rebound edge over the Cardinals.

NPU broke a 39-all tie by scoring 12 of the next 14 points in a 3:12 span. Amy Stoltz added 14 points and five assists for NPU, which is now 7-12, 2-7 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. The Vikings play at Millikin University in Decatur in a 2 p.m. CCIW contest Saturday.
