Elmhurst Edges Vikings in Basketball Action

ELMHURST, IL (January 16, 2003) - Despite 16 points and 14 rebounds by forward Megan Slattery, the North Park University (NPU) women's basketball team lost to Elmhurst College 51-48 Wednesday night.

North Park fell to 5-8 overall, 1-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. Elmhurst is now 5-9, 1-3. Slattery, a freshman, was honored earlier this week as the CCIW's "Women's Basketball Player of the Week" for the seven-day period ending January 12. Slattery averaged 20.7 points and 11.3 rebounds in three games, two of them being North Park victories.

On January 7, Slattery scored 28 points, a collegiate high, as the Vikings beat Millikin University 66-61. She had 14 points in a 93-31 win over Illinois Institute of Technology on January 9 and 20 points in an 84-49 loss at Illinois Wesleyan on January 11.
