Services Pending for Wesley H. Nelson

CHICAGO, IL (January 9, 2003) - Wesley H. Nelson Services are pending at Ravenswood Evangelical Covenant Church for Wesley W. Nelson, well-known Covenant pastor and former North Park Theological Seminary professor who died late this morning at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston following an apparent heart attack.

Nelson resided at Covenant Home in Chicago at the time of his death. He was professor emeritus of pastoral studies and the author of several books. He is survived by four children - his wife, Margaret preceded him in death.

Ordained in 1944, he served churches in California, Illinois and Washington and later served as director of evangelism and outreach for the Evangelical Covenant Church.

He had just completed work on a revised and expanded edition of his book Crying for My Mother that is due for release during the 2003 Midwinter Conference.

Final arrangements are pending arrival of family members in Chicago. More information will be posted to this Covenant news report as it becomes available.
