CHICAGO, IL (November 27, 2002) - Nearly 200 people recently participated in "The Road," the first mission conference sponsored by North Park University (NPU).The event, which targeted adults ages 18-35 interested in mission ministry, included 60 participants from NPU. Besides plenary sessions, workshops and worship opportunities, participants were able to meet with exhibitors from 20 mission organizations, according to NPU missions coordinator Suzanne Greicar.
Workshops included topics such as international student ministry, medical missions, social justice, cross-cultural ministry and raising support funds. Missionaries also participated in a panel discussion to allow participants to ask questions on a variety of subjects.
Pastor Dave Lee from Harvest Community Church in Hoffman Estates and Mark Westlind, professor of world mission at North Park Theological Seminary, were the plenary speakers. Westlind shared personal testimonies from 14 years of mission work in Colombia.
