Salem (OR) Church to Dedicate New Building
SALEM, OR (November 21, 2002) - Trinity Covenant Church will dedicate a $4 million facility on Sunday with a brunch and open house following worship.New pastor Chris Haydon will preach during the morning worship service. In the afternoon, church leaders will discuss partnerships with community groups that they hope will make the new building a blessing to both those at Trinity Covenant and the surrounding neighborhood. The Salem Leadership Foundation and the neighborhood school, Liberty Elementary, have agreed to partner with the church in various areas of activity.
Trinity Covenant was founded in 1963 when a group of charter members began meeting in a local YWCA. In 1967, the church dedicated its first church building. Trinity Covenant began considering building a new facility in the summer of 1994. When structural problems were discovered in Trinity Covenant's previous building in 1997, the congregation decided to replace its old structure with a new one on the same site.
The new 31,000-square-foot complex includes a 450-seat sanctuary, a community center/gym and extensive Christian Education facilities.
