Kermit Zarley Lectures to Present Old Testament Scholar

CHICAGO, IL (November 12, 2002) - H.G.M. Williamson, a leading authority on the Old Testament prophet Isaiah, is the featured speaker at the third annual Kermit Zarley Lectures, which begin at North Park University (NPU) at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow, November 13.

Williamson is Regius Professor of Hebrew with The Oriental Institute at Oxford University in England. A teacher of elementary and advanced classical Hebrew, Williamson has extensively researched the book of Isaiah and Jewish history and literature in the Achaemenid Period.

The Kermit Zarley lectures, which are free and open to the public, will take place in Anderson Chapel. Williamson will also lecture on November 14. His presentations are part of a lecture series that began through the conversations of a Professional Golf Association competitor, Zarley, and Scot McKnight, Karl A. Olsson Professor in Religious Studies at NPU.
