The service will be at 2 p.m. at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 1046

Street, with Pastor Steve Tilley of Parkland Church officiating. A

Haglund was born April 1, 1922, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He served as
a
missionary for 37 years in Manila, Philippines, and Quito, Ecuador. He
was
involved in the G.I. Gospel Hour movement in the Philippines while
serving
in the U.S. Army. He and his wife, Faye, returned to the Philippines as
part of the Far Eastern Gospel Crusade, later known as Send
International.
The couple was called and commissioned as Covenant missionaries during
the
1975 Annual Meeting, following two years of short-term service with the
Covenant in Ecuador.
During their 1984-1987 term, Ben taught instrumental music and directed
the
school band at Theodore W. Anderson High School, also teaching classes
in
Bible, discipleship and baptism while assisting with many administrative
duties. Faye was involved in visitation, discipleship classes,
counseling
and serving on the Jipi-japa church board.
In a 1987 report, Faye wrote that "on the whole, our country in Ecuador
is
open to the Gospel and we are able to minister without fear of
interference. However, there are districts where work is being done
among
the Quichua Indians where persecution is taking place. Radio station
HCJB .
. . is endeavoring by the power of the Holy Spirit to proclaim the
Gospel
of Jesus Christ in such a manner that every man, woman and child will be
confronted with the redemption that Christ offers and follow through as
a
responsible member of Christ's church."
In addition to his wife of 54 years, Faye Marie Wilson Haglund, he is
survived by his son, Larry Benjamin Haglund; three granddaughters:
Shama-Nitra, Tamis Marie and Lillie Bailey; and four great
grandchildren.
