Worship Connection Registrations Now Accepted
CHICAGO, IL (November 6, 2002) - Registrations are being taken for a Worship Connection to be held at the O'Hare Hyatt Regency Hotel in Rosemont from February 7-9, immediately following the annual Evangelical Covenant Church Pastors Midwinter Conference.Randall Wilkens, worship and music minister at the Evangelical Covenant Church of Lafayette, Indiana, will speak on "Unity or Worship Wars" during the event's Friday afternoon opening session.
Gary Schmidt, music and worship pastor at LifeSpring Covenant Church in Loveland, Colorado, will speak Friday evening about "The Challenges of Worship and Music Leadership." Roger Shenk, worship pastor at Eastridge Covenant Church in Clackamas, Oregon, will discuss "Our Common Goal in the Lord" during the Saturday morning session. Wilkens, Schmidt and Shenk will lead worship at various times during the weekend.
Participants will choose from three seminars on Saturday afternoon with subjects ranging from multigenerational worship to technology in worship. Session leaders include Doug Vetvick, dean of the Worship Center at Covenant Bible College-Midwest in Windsor, Colorado; Walt Whitman of Oakdale Covenant Church in Chicago, Illinois; and Wilkens.
Saturday evening's speaker will be Doreen Olson, executive minister of the Department of Christian Formation, who will address "What Our People Need >From Their Worship Leaders." Worship Connection participants will join with Youth and Children and Adult Ministry connection groups during a combined worship service Sunday morning. In addition to speakers, workshops and worship sessions, times for small group discussion and prayer will enable participants to get to know each other and connect with other worship leaders in the Covenant.
Registration for the weekend is $119 if paid by December 16 and $139 thereafter. Additional discounts are available for unpaid laypersons, registered participants' spouses, North Park University students and worship interns. Participants may also pay an extra fee to attend a Friday morning breakfast with those registered for the Pastor's Midwinter Conference. Author Philip Yancey is the keynote speaker for the breakfast.
