Bangui Delegation Returning to the United States

BANGUI, CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC (October 30, 2002) - Bob Thornbloom and a delegation of others representing the Evangelical Covenant Church have safely left the country and are returning to the United States, following continued fighting in the capital.

Fighting appears to be moving in a northerly direction outside the city, Covenant News Service has learned. There are reports, however, that some religious organizations working in the area are considering evacuating their personnel. Covenant personnel are following the recommendation of the U.S. Embassy and are remaining in their homes.

Prayer is requested for the continued safety of individuals remaining in the country and for those in transit, as well as wisdom for those in leadership positions.
