Family, Friends Remember Melva Wickman

SANTA BARBARA, CA (September 25, 2002) - Melva Wickman, widow of pastor Allen Wickman, passed away Saturday at The Samarkand Covenant Retirement Center.

Wickman celebrated her 90th birthday last spring. The Wickmans served churches in Chicago and the west coast and moved to The Samarkand following retirement. Melva was a well-known speaker at women's events throughout the Covenant and was noted for her Bible study teaching. She also enjoyed being an interior designer, according to family members.

Wickman is survived by her daughters, Dawn Vallender of Arroyo Grande, California, and Karen Andrick of Vail, Arizona, as well as their families, many other relatives and friends. Although there will be no individual memorial service, she will be remembered October 1 at The Samarkand's regular monthly Service of Remembrance for all who died during the previous month.
