Both Viking Soccer Teams Score Victories

CHICAGO, IL (September 11, 2002) - The North Park University (NPU) women's soccer team moved to 2-0 overall by beating Maranatha Baptist Bible College 4-0 last Saturday as Erika Bennett scored three goals and Carly Thomforde tallied twice.

While the women were in Wisconsin, the men's team played in the Twin Cities last weekend, beating Carleton College Saturday 1-0 on an overtime goal by Darryl Payne and losing 2-1 Sunday in double overtime to St. John's University despite Andreas Olofsson's goal. The Vikings are now 3-1 overall.

The NPU women's team will host Lake Forest College at 4:30 p.m. today (Wednesday). Both teams play matches Saturday and Sunday against Lakeland College and Marian College respectively. The women's team plays at 1 p.m. and the men's game starts at 3 p.m. on both days.
