Classes Under Way at Alaska Christian College
SOLDOTNA, AK (September 9, 2002) - The second class for Alaska Christian College
(ACC) totals 24 students this fall with two others taking classes while
supplementing courses at a local junior college, according to ACC President
Keith Hamilton.
Alaska Christian College was busy this summer with maintenance and building
projects,
including a 1,490-square-foot duplex that will house eight people in the
future. The school also began a project for a 920-square-foot maintenance
building and added a ropes course. A total of 155 people (11 work teams)
provided some kind of short-term volunteer service this summer. "We are
eternally grateful to God," Hamilton said.
The incoming class at ACC represents seven states and one Canadian
province, with eight denominations and 10 ethnic groups also represented.
With the completion of the new duplex, 30 students will have housing at ACC
next year. A major charitable foundation has expressed interest in helping
the school build a new dormitory, dining hall and a commercial kitchen over
the next two years. Hamilton and his staff ask for prayers that the
foundation will be able to contribute in this manner.
In faculty news, Allen Minturn of Mankato, Minnesota, is the new Dean of
Men at the school, which was able to retain all of last year's staff.
