Uruguay Pianist to Perform at North Park
CHICAGO, IL (September 6, 2002) - Polly Ferman, one of the world's leading
promoters of the music of the Americas, will be performing at North Park
University at 3:30 p.m.
September 15 in Anderson Chapel.
The concert is sponsored jointly by North Park's Center for Latino Studies,
the Latin American Student Organization and the Institute for International
Studies to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month. Tickets are $20 for adults and
$10 for students with identification.
Ferman has appeared around the world, performing with the Indianapolis
Symphony, the Tokyo City Philharmonic, the Sao Paulo State Symphony
Orchestra and the National
Symphony Orchestra of Argentina, among others. She has also given numerous
recitals all over the world.
After beginning music studies in Uruguay at age three, she attended the
J.S. Bach Conservatory as a pupil of Santiago Baranda Reyes. Later she
studied with Celia Bronstein in Buenos Aires and Eugene List and William
Daghlian in New York. Besides her concert and recital performances, she has
recorded for Musical Heritage Society, PAMAR, and Talent Records.
