CIPE Bible School Offers Study, Practical Training
CUAUTLA, MEXICO (August 27, 2002) - A total of 25 students participated in the
second annual Confederation of Latin American Covenant Churches (CIPE)
Bible school from July 6 through August 17.
The Bible school was organized and administered as a youth initiative in
CIPE, with cooperation from youth leadership from Ecuador and Mexico.
Students and teachers came from Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia
and the United States for training. Teachers raised their own funds to
attend the event and volunteered their time as a way to support the
educational efforts of CIPE.
"Through the education and the healing process of difficult family
backgrounds, lives were changed, no question about it," said Nancy Reed,
coordinator for Hispanic church relations for the Department of World
Mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church. "It's an extremely functional
model because it allows for the opportunity of intercultural
identification, profitable study and practical application. There was also
the benefit of cross-cultural growth and understanding among students and
staff."
Next year's CIPE Bible school will occur in the summer months at Covenant
Bible College-Ecuador. Along with the Bible school, there will be an
international youth conference for young people ages 18 to 30, including
graduates of previous classes as well as Covenant youth leaders from Latin
America and invited guests from the International Federation of Free
Evangelical Churches.
