Donated Copies of 'Deep Tracks in Africa' Book Sought

CHICAGO, IL (August 23, 2002) - A search is under way for additional copies of the book Deep Tracks in Africa published by Covenant Press in 1976.

Deep Tracks in Africa book The search is being conducted by the president's office of the Evangelical Covenant Church as part of development work associated with the Paul Carlson Foundation. Dr. Paul Carlson was a Covenant medical missionary killed by Congo rebels in 1964. The foundation is designed to assist Covenant medical projects around the world.

"This book is an important tool in helping those associated with the foundation, as well as other Covenant leaders who may not be familiar with Dr. Carlson's work and this significant part of our Covenant history," President Glenn Palmberg said. Because the book is no longer in print, finding an adequate number of copies to share with others has been difficult.

Palmberg requests that individuals who have one or more copies of the book and are willing to donate them to the foundation send the books to Joey Ekberg at the Office of the President, Evangelical Covenant Church, 5101 N. Francisco Avenue, Chicago, IL, 60625. "We do not want copies from people who need or want to keep them," Palmberg emphasized, as the books cannot be returned.

The book request is the second associated with the foundation project. "Thank you to all who sent us copies of Monganga Paul as well as various magazines and other memorabilia," Palmberg said. "The books are now being read by administrators and will soon be used by members of the foundation." The book was written by Carlson's wife, Lois, and published by Harper & Row in 1966.
