Oregon Congregation Breaks Ground for New Building

SHERWOOD, OR (August 21, 2002) - About 200 people attended a special groundbreaking service Sunday at the site of a new building project at Community Covenant Church, according to the church's executive pastor Malcolm Miura.

The church expects the $3 million project to be finished next fall. National Covenant Properties has provided a loan. Included in the proposed 20,780-square-foot facility is a multipurpose room that will seat 500 for worship services. The congregation currently worships at a local high school.

Community Covenant is located in a city of 12,000 people located southwest of Portland. The church, founded in 1993, averages about 560 in worship attendance under pastor Paul Duppenthaler.

For more information about the church, its ministries and building plans, call Miura at 503-625-3690.
