INDIANAPOLIS, IN (August 20, 2002) - Longtime Minnehaha Academy soccer coach Guido Kauls, who retired last year, is among 23 recipients of the National Federation of State High School Association national Coach of the Year award.

Kauls, who attends Bethlehem Covenant Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was honored at an awards banquet in Montgomery, Alabama, as the Coach of the Year for his sport. During his 40-year career coaching boys and girls soccer at the Minneapolis-based school, he was 499-275-75 with a state runner-up finish in 1981.
