"For many years he was a lawyer for the denomination and was always on call to help them on legal matters," said Harry Ekstam, a neighbor and friend who was an administrator for The Holmstad in its early years. "He was one of those who did a lot of work in helping develop Glen Ellyn Covenant Church. He was a guy you could always count on. He could laugh with the rest of them and was always a thinker with a lot of creative ideas. It was my pleasure to be his good friend."
Munson is survived by his wife and three sons: Lester Jr. of Chicago; Eric of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and James of Salem, Oregon.
