Clay (NY) Church Celebrates Expansion
CLAY, NY (April 19, 2002) - Grace Evangelical Covenant Church celebrated its new
building addition Sunday evening as 100 attended a special dedication
service at the church in Clay.
The congregation added about 4,000 square feet onto the church, according
to pastor Bill Anthes. It expanded its worship facilities and increased
classroom space by five rooms. The kitchen was also refurbished. The cost
of the expansion to date is $225,000.
A construction manager directed the 12-month project. Anthes said
volunteers from the congregation donated most of the labor. Parishioners
mentioned the ministry given by various individuals who were significant in
the building process. "A building was constructed, but more importantly,
relationships were built," said Anthes of Sunday's dedication.
Grace Covenant is an 11-year-old church located 10 miles from Syracuse in
upstate New York. The church, which was sponsored by nearby Redeemer
Covenant in Liverpool, has an average worship attendance of 230.
