Capital Punishment Focus of Wednesday Public Forum

CHICAGO, IL (April 8, 2002) - An open forum on capital punishment will be held Wednesday on the campus of North Park University. The forum will begin at 7 p.m. in Anderson Chapel, located at Foster and Spaulding avenues.

Forum moderator is the Hon. William Bauer of the U.S. Court of Appeals. Invited discussion participants include the following:

  • Seymour Simon, retired justice of the Illinois Supreme Court
  • Prof. Andrea Lyon, director of the Center for Justice in Capital Cases of the DePaul College of Law
  • William Kunkle, well-known prosecutor in the John Wayne Gacy criminal case
  • Retired U.S. District Court Judge George Leighton
  • Michael Waller, Lake County States Attorney
  • Dick A Devine, Cook County States Attorney
  • Rob Warden of the Northwestern University School of Law and a journalist

The forum is open to the public without charge.
