CBC X-treme Impact Event Draws 200 People
STRATHMORE, AB (March 22, 2002) - More than 200 people attended the recent X-treme Impact 2002 event at Covenant Bible College-Canada to hear guest speaker Judy Howard Peterson and other event leaders urge participants to allow God to shape their lives in new and exciting ways.Howard Peterson, associate pastor at Arbor Covenant Church in Madison, Wisconsin, talked about God's desire to refine us - "broken and cracked pots that cannot fix ourselves" - through his healing grace. "Good, better, best, never let it rest, until your good is better and your better best," said Howard Peterson, recalling one of her mother's favorite sayings as she encouraged students to strive for spiritual growth as God forms and shapes them.
Testimonies by Steve Long and Tamae Schafer, along with singing and group interaction, were integral parts of X-treme 2002, which included students from grade 10 through 12. Worship band members included CBC-Canada staff member Brian Frable, Gillian Bujold, Andrew Gathright, Chelsa Jensen, Greg Jensen, Matthew Kent and Oliver Martinez. Jessica Read and Sean McEwen served as emcees for the event.
X-treme participants visited a local water park with a wide variety of other recreational activities also available. Seminars on dating, communicating one's faith, discerning God's voice in decision-making, and ethical issues pertaining to sex, drugs and rock music were also available. Seminar leaders included CBC staff members Bret Widman (CBC-Canada), Karen Hallberg (CBC-Colorado), Heidi Toews, Ian Klassen, Matthew Kent, Kristen Neuenschwander and Aaron Wall.
"It was incredible to see God working so vividly," said Eric Christensen. "From the testimonies, I saw what God was doing in their lives and what He is doing in my own," added Matthew Djkowich.
