North Park Students Qualify in Track and Field

ADA, OH (March 13, 2002) - Three North Park University (NPU) athletes qualified for the NCAA Division III indoor track and field nationals last weekend after obtaining qualifying marks earlier this winter.

Senior Craig Hancock of Arvada, Colorado, qualified for the 400-meter dash. Sophomore Giles Travis of Richton Park, Illinois, qualified for the long jump and junior Lacretia Carroll of Peoria, Illinois, qualified in both the 400 and the long jump.

Travis had won the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin long jump title last spring at North Park and was seventh in the triple jump. Carroll had qualified for both the indoor and outdoor nationals a year ago in the 400. At the conference meet, she placed first in the 400 while placing second in the triple jump and fourth in the 200-meter dash.
