Sundholm Speaks at Mission Adventure Weekend

Mc MINNVILLE, OR (March 7, 2002) - Jim Sundholm, director of Covenant World Relief, was the keynote speaker for Mission Adventure Weekend 2002, a mission event sponsored by the North Pacific Conference March 1 and 2 at McMinnville Covenant Church.

A dinner drew 140 people and a dialogue between local church and Department of World Mission representatives drew 75 participants, according to Keith Tungseth, facilitator for local church mission initiatives and Russian ministries for the Department of World Mission. David Stockamp, director of church relations for the Department of World Mission, also participated.

Other Department of World Mission representatives included Julie Bengston, Jay Haworth, LeRoy and Caroline Peterson, Nancy Jo Hoover and Kelly Prudek. The Slavic Christian Singers of Salem, Oregon, were guest musicians for the event.

Last year's Mission Adventure was aimed at providing resources for cross-cultural communication at the local church level, said Tungseth. This year's event focused on building long-term relationships with other entities in various ministry partnerships. Question-and-answer formats were a vital part, as was a lengthy dialogue between Department of World Mission representatives and participants.

For more information about cooperative mission efforts in the North Pacific and elsewhere, call Tungseth at 206-275-3903 or Stockamp at 503-246-9544.
