Oakland Church to Host Handbell Festival
OAKLAND, CA (February 7, 2002) - First Covenant Church of Oakland will host the Bay Area Handbell Festival on February 23, with a 7 p.m. concert following the all-day event.
The concert is free to the public and will feature nationally known handbell choir clinician Arnold Sherman.
First Covenant of Oakland has been using its handbell ministry for a variety of purposes. In December, a high school group directed by Dolores Rhoads traveled to southern California for concerts at schools, retirement centers and a church in Santa Monica. The church has four handbell choirs ranging in age from sixth grade to adult.
