Covenant Runner Member of Winning Team

NATIONAL CITY, CA (November 28, 2001) - Junior Brian Paff, who grew up at College Center Covenant Church in San Diego, was a member of the Calvin College national runner-up men's cross-country team this fall.

Paff, the son of Richard and Nancy Paff of National City, is a three-year runner for the school, which was second in the recent NCAA Division III cross-country nationals in Rock Island, Illinois. During his college years, he has attended Clairemont Covenant Church in San Diego and served as a youth intern there.

Last spring, Paff placed fifth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) track and field meet while competing in the 10,000 meter run. This fall, he placed 26th at the MIAA jamboree race at Hope College, 30th at the conference meet, and 80th at the 18-team Michigan Intercollegiates. His squad won the 2000 national cross-country title and has dominated MIAA conference meets for the past 15 years.
