Alaska Council Seeking Field Director Candidates

EAGLE RIVER, AK (November 26, 2001) - Paul Wilson has informed the General Council of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Alaska (ECCAK) that he will not seek another term as field director, Covenant News Service has learned.

Wilson has served the region for eight years during which Alaskan ministries have moved forward in areas of church planting, village ministry and ministry to native youth through Covenant Youth of Alaska (CYAK). Wilson has helped stabilize the ministry of Nome-based radio station KICY and has aided the recent start of Alaska Christian College. Ministry staff has increased from 20 to 60 during that period and more young leaders are being trained, giving ECCAK a bright future in ministry throughout Alaska.

"Paul (Wilson) has given exceptional leadership to our longstanding ministry in Alaska - it has never been stronger," said Gary Walter executive minister of the Department of Church Growth and Evangelism of the Evangelical Covenant Church. "The Covenant is clearly well positioned to impact the entire state with the hope of Christ."

Walter said that the ECCAK council will serve as a search committee in seeking Wilson's replacement, working closely with Walter and his department. Nominations for the position should be forwarded to Walter's attention by email at gary.walter@covchurch.org or by regular mail at 5101 N. Francisco Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625.
