Palestinian Christian Leader: 'Can We Get Along?'

CHICAGO, IL (November 21, 2001) - Father Elias Chacour, an internationally known Palestinian Christian leader and Catholic priest, will speak at North Park University December 4 in a presentation entitled "Can We Get Along? Christians, Muslims and Jews in the Holy Land."

Chacour's presentation begins at 7:30 p.m. in North Park's Anderson Chapel. The presentation is free and open to the public. The event is presented by the school's Center for Middle Eastern Studies and the Institute for International and Cultural Studies.

A teacher at Prophet Elias College in Ibillin, Galilee, Israel, Chacour has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and was the 1994 recipient of the World Methodist Council Peace Award, an honor awarded previously to such notables as Anwar Sadat, Nelson Mandela and former President Jimmy Carter.
