Conference to Focus on Community Development
DALLAS, TX (November 15, 2001) - Covenant Ministries of Benevolence (CMB) representatives
will be among more than 4,000 participants at the annual Christian Community Development Association conference in Dallas November 28 through December 2.
CMB is hoping to connect with other Covenanters at the CCDA conference. A luncheon has been planned for that purpose November 30 at 12:15 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel, the site of the event.
CCDA is been a growing organization started a decade ago with about 100 members. CCDA's headquarters are in Chicago. The workshops and site visits during the CCDA conference offer numerous opportunities for supporting communities in areas of improved education, jobs, health care, housing, youth and senior ministries and public safety.
There will be a Covenant presence at CCDA as Seattle pastor Harvey Drake of Emerald City Outreach Ministries is a CCDA board member and his organization is among the more than 300 that are members of the worldwide organization.
Seminar leaders include Evangelical Covenant Church pastor Dallas Anderson, who works with a nationally known prison evangelism organization called Operation Starting Line. Another is Amy
Sherman, one of the panelists at the second annual non-profit symposium at North Park University last spring.
Brenda Salter McNeil of Chicago, one of the keynote speakers for the 2002 Midwinter Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church, will speak during one of the evening services. Other guest speakers are John Perkins and Ron Sider.
For more information on the lunch with Covenanters, call CMB staff member Jim Lundeen at 773-878-8200, extension 5008. To register for the CCDA conference, visit the organization's web site at www.ccda.org.
