Season Coming to a Close for NPU Vikings

CHICAGO, IL (November 5, 2001) - North Park University (NPU) was limited offensively to a 21-yard field goal by Jason Reynolds as Wheaton College beat the Vikings 35-3 in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) football game played at Hedstrand Field Saturday.

Wheaton (5-3 overall, 4-2 in the CCIW) scored touchdowns on its first two possessions to take control early. North Park (2-7, 0-6) had an 18-play, 76-yard drive that began late in the first quarter, but the Vikings were stopped on the Wheaton 4-yard line and were forced to settle for the Reynolds field goal.

North Park never had a drive longer than eight plays the rest of the game as Wheaton controlled the ball with a running game that totaled 237 yards on 51 carries. Don Sanford led the Vikings offensively with 78 yards on 23 rushes and Tim Daggy intercepted a pass and contributed eight solo tackles and four assists to pace the defense.

On November 10, NPU travels to Kenosha, Wisconsin, to play CCIW foe Carthage College in a 1 p.m. contest to close out the season.
