Michigan Covenanter Publishes Christian Novel

MUSKEGON, MI (October 25, 2001) - Dr. Rick Amidon of Forest Park Covenant Church recently published his first novel through Halcyon Press titled Jesus Trucking Company.

The story centers on the character Jack Cranberry who travels around the country looking for opportunities to serve the down and out people of this world. A strong sense of humanity is reflected as the character struggles with issues of trusting God and living day to day by faith. The ending is a modern day Great Commission that leaves the reader with the desire to carry on the work Jack Cranberry has begun.

Dr. Amidon is president of Baker College in Muskegon and holds a Ph.D. in English from Michigan State University where he taught English, Creative Writing and Literature courses. When asked why he wrote the book, he replied, "I wrote it as a way to illustrate my faith and to show the impact Jesus Christ can have on a person's life." Royalties from the book will support the work of missionaries around the world.
