Leith Anderson Interim Head of Evangelical Association

WASHINGTON, DC (October 24, 2001) - Rev. Leith Anderson, one of the keynote speakers for the 2000 Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC), has been selected as interim president of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE).

Anderson, senior pastor of Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, since 1977, is affiliated with the Baptist General Conference. When the Evangelical Free Church of America and ECC conducted annual meetings in St. Paul, Minnesota, last year, Anderson spoke at a combined worship service of the two denominations.

Anderson, selected by the NAE board to head the Washington, D.C.-based organization, succeeds Bishop Kevin Mannoia, who resigned in July. Anderson is a teacher, radio broadcaster and author of such books as Dying for Change and Leadership That Works: Hope and Direction for Church and Parachurch Leaders in Today's Complex World.
