Ministry Seeking Administrative Assistant Applications
CHICAGO, IL (October 13, 2001) - Applications are being accepted for a position as administrative assistant to the director of staff ministry in the Department of the Ordered Ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church.The department recruits, supports, credentials and cares for ministers, working closely with regional conferences.
This position provides assistance to two positions within the department - serving as administrative assistant to the director of staff ministry (half-time) and assisting the department's administrative assistant (half-time).
Staff ministry duties include assisting with general correspondence, travel arrangements and meeting preparations, maintaining records for the credentialing process and monitoring progress. This position updates the staff ministers roster and tracks standing and continuing education.
General departmental assistance includes answering the telephone and dispatching voice mail messages. This position works with the administrative assistant to the executive minister on various departmental projects, including exploration of grant writing and research on funding for department projects, responding to requests for materials and information from other departments and regional offices and assisting in the preparation of monthly church openings reports.
Qualifications include a willingness to support the mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church, especially the ministries of the Department of the Ordered Ministry. A working knowledge of the Covenant church organization is beneficial, but not mandatory. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentially. Diplomacy is important, as are strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate will be expected to work well in a "team" environment and will understand the importance of meeting deadlines, attending to details and seeing tasks through to completion. Three or more years of experience using computerized information systems is desired, including data and word processing.
