Covenanter Completes Ninth Season in Pro Baseball

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 12, 2001) - Relief pitcher Tim Worrell of New Hope Covenant Church in Peoria, Arizona, finished his ninth major league baseball season with the San Francisco Giants, setting a career mark with 73 appearances while posting a 2-5 record with a 3.45 earned run average.

Worrell, struck out 63 hitters in 78 and one-third innings of work for the Giants, who finished second in the National League West division. The 34-year-old California native had 10 straight scoreless appearances twice during 2001.

A year ago, Worrell played with the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago Cubs and had an overall earned run average of 2.99 in 59 games. He is 27-43 for his career with a 4.19 earned run average.
