Mexico Covenant President Offers Word of Support

MEXICO (October 12, 2001) - "This is a way that we can show how we reject terrorist acts like those of September 11," began the letter from Javier Martinez, president of the Covenant Church of Mexico (IEMP).

In his letter, he called for a lighting of candles to observe the one-month anniversary of the terrorist assaults in the United States.

"To sustain and show our mourning with our American friends, we would like to offer a worldwide action in defense," he continued. "October 11 at 8:00 p.m., local time in all of the countries, light the maximum number of candles in your building, garden, or street."

It is not known at this time how many received the letter in time to join in the observance.
