Central Conference Women Earmark Gifts for Relief
LAKE GENEVA, WI (October 4, 2001) - In the wake of the terrorist assaults in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania, the Central Conference Covenant Women Ministries Board of Directors has donated all of its September women's retreat offerings to aid Covenant World Relief efforts.
A total of $10,330.75 was donated, according to President Patsy Olsen, representing offerings received during two women's retreats at Covenant Harbor Bible Camp.
"In an unprecedented action the board decided that instead of giving the offering to Covenant Harbor as the custom has always been, it should be given to Covenant World Relief for the disaster victims," Olsen said.
"Knowing that Covenant Harbor relies heavily on support from our retreat offerings, we did not want to leave them high and dry," Olsen continued. The organization's annual project for this year has been for Princeton Children's Home, she noted. "In light of its closure, the funds we have collected thus far and through the end of the year are no longer needed there and will go to Covenant Harbor."
