Child Care Center to Break Ground in Ravenswood
CHICAGO, IL (September 26, 2001) - The Ravenswood Community Child Care Center (RC4) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony October 1 at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate the beginning of building renovations in a unique community effort.Ravenswood Evangelical Covenant Church, Advocate Northside Ravenswood Hospital and Amundsen High School are combining resources in an effort that has received support from a variety of sources.
State Sen. Lisa Madigan will address the group and present the RC4 Board of Directors with a check for $125,000, which she arranged through Illinois FIRST funding. The organization has also received support from Alderman Eugene Schulter, who will also be in attendance. Board Chair Dr. Daniel de Roulet, professor at North Park University, will emcee the festivities.
Other major contributors include Ravenswood Hospital medical staff, Ravenswood Health Care Foundation, Compassion and Justice Ministries and the Central Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church, and members of Ravenswood Evangelical Covenant Church.
The mission of Ravenswood Community Child Care Center (RC 4) is to provide quality childcare services and education for children through five years of age in a safe and nurturing environment. Parenting teens from Amundsen High School will receive first priority for enrollment.
Supportive services will provide resources to assist parents in enhancing their child's early development. RC4 strives to create community based partnerships among parents, professionals and organizations and individuals from the neighborhood and is committed to strengthening the early experiences of the youngest members of the Ravenswood community. RC4 is owned and operated by Ravenswood Community Daycare, Inc., a not-for-profit 501(c) 3 organization.
