Memorial Service Saturday for Missing Firefighter

PARAMUS, NJ (September 25, 2001) - A memorial service will be conducted Saturday for New York City firefighter Bruce Van Hine who remains on the missing persons list following the tragic terrorist assaults on the World Trade Center September 11.

Van Hine is the brother of former Christian Education (now Formation) staff member Bobbie Bower and the uncle of Betzy Cisneros. Van Hine and his wife, Anne, have two daughters.

The memorial and worship service will be conducted at 2 p.m. at Maranatha Church of the Nazarene in Paramus. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be directed to two organizations: Camp Taconic, 64 White Drive, Milan, New York, 12571, for summer camp scholarships; or Appalachian Trail Conference, P.O. Box 807, Harpers Ferry, WV, 25425-9988 - Van Hine loved hiking the Appalachian trail.

"Please pray for Bobbie and our family at this most difficult time," said Ken Bower. "Bruce was a strong Christian who loved his work."
