Turlock Church Holds First Service in New Building
TURLOCK, CA (September 24, 2001) - Cornerstone Covenant Church welcomed 275 people to its new building for worship services Sunday, a significant increase over its average worship attendance of 160, according to pastor Brad Boydston.A service of dedication will be conducted at 4 p.m. October 7 with a "Grand Opening" Sunday morning worship service held on October 14. Boydston said that a permanent occupancy permit is contingent on completion of all landscaping, which should be finished in a few weeks.
"It went even more smoothly than I had envisioned," reported Boydston in an email to church members. "Certainly there are things which aren't yet finished . . . but wow, you all are so flexible that it didn't matter. We know that some visitors were well wishers, which we appreciate. But there were also a few community visitors in spite of the fact that we didn't make any kind of community announcement."
Cornerstone Covenant Church was started in 1994. The church had a groundbreaking ceremony October 29, 2000, for the 14,000-square-foot multipurpose building. It is the first of three structures planned for the seven-acre site. National Covenant Properties participating in funding of the project.
