Minnesota Church Creates Program for Local Cable
LITTLE FALLS, MN (September 18, 2001) - Grace Covenant Church of Little Falls is using a local cable access television station as a means of communicating the gospel. The church produced its first half-hour television tape August 16 and hopes to have it aired in September.Charlene Hasz produced the first show - A Touch of Grace - which focuses on "real people, real problems, real life," according to Pam Trang, a computer support staffer for the program. The first show centers on how God worked in the life of Ami McKinley. McKinley's father died when she was 20 and the Grace Covenant parishioner discussed how she went through the grief process during the difficult period following her father's sudden death.
Joy Kolstad is the artistic director and John Ebert and Jon Nieman are providing technical assistance, including PowerPoint presentations for introductions and trailer information. The group wants to produce six shows annually for the cable access network. In Little Falls, the program can be seen on Channel 6 while in the neighboring communities of Pierz, Holdingford and Royalton, the program will be shown on Channel 10. Little Falls is a community with a population of nearly 8,000 located in central Minnesota.
The pastoral staff at Grace Covenant Church was helpful in creating the vision for the program, said Trang. Lois Hokanson, pastor of outreach, helped the group discuss how to begin programming. Senior pastor Steven Anderson also has given his support to the project.
