Covenant Pastor Named Dean of Portland Seminary
PORTLAND, OR (August 17, 2001) - Jules Glanzer, the founding pastor of Faith Community Evangelical Covenant Church in Houston, Texas, has been named dean at George Fox Evangelical Seminary in Portland.Glanzer, 48, has pastored Faith Covenant since its founding in 1987. He begins his new duties in November, replacing Thomas Johnson, the seminary's dean since 1997.
He has more than 20 years pastoral experience and both graduate-level and international teaching experience. Glanzer holds a Doctor of Ministry degree in leadership and church management from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary in Fresno, California, and has a Bachelor's degree in business administration from Tabor College in Kansas.
Since 2000, Glanzer has been an adjunct professor of leadership studies at Houston Graduate School of Theology while serving at Faith Covenant. He also is director of the Diamond Center, a Houston program focusing on faith-based leadership development. He has presented seminars in the Netherlands and has been a guest lecturer at St. James Bible College in Magadan, Russia.
Glanzer was ordained in a Mennonite Brethren church in South Dakota. That ordination was later transferred to the Evangelical Covenant Church. Glanzer and his wife, Peggy, have three grown children.
