Covenant Harbor Lodge Named in Memory of Engebretson
LAKE GENEVA, WI (August 9, 2001) - Covenant Harbor Bible Camp will name a new 50-bed lodge in memory of the late Milton B. Engebretson, president of the Evangelical Covenant Church from 1967 to 1986.Engebretson was well-known for his deep commitment to the kind of evangelism experienced at Covenant camps.
The lodge will provide sleeping and meeting rooms for summer youth campers and youth retreat guests. It will also be available for use by adult groups. The new Engebretson Lodge is needed because Covenant Harbor is bursting at the seams, according to David Auker, the camp's director of development. Approximately 1,400 youth campers have attended summer camps so far this season, representing a 22 percent increase over last year's totals. The Harbor has had to turn away many groups wanting to use the camp for weekend retreats, Auker noted. The new lodge will enable an additional group to come each weekend.
A special event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. August 19 at the Lake Geneva estate of Richard Driehaus to benefit the new lodge. Driehaus, a well-known Chicago investment manager, will underwrite all costs for the event so that all proceeds can be used in support of the lodge, according to Auker. Those wanting to reserve a place at the August 19 event or obtain further information may contact Auker by telephone at 262-248-3600 or by email at dauker@covenatharbor.org.
